September 26, 2008 at 1:11 AMI think color coding the nouns separate from the verbs was very helpful. I think it also helped that I knew most of the nouns and verbs in the first place. It would be interesting to hear from someone who didn't know any of the verbs and nouns whether or not they got any of the vocab from the video in a single viewing.
Overall, nice video.

September 25, 2008 at 4:58 PMtvan, when I was in China, I noticed people didn't even bother with Yuan. Taxi drivers would say si4shi2 kuai, and that would be that. Or i'd get hit up by a street vendor selling whatever, and i could say wo3 gei2 ni3 yi1 kuai4.

September 24, 2008 at 6:27 PMHi Jenny, another suggestion on the lesson roadmap is to have a lesson on China's manned space flight program. cpod should have at least 2, one at ele level, and another at upper-inter or advanced. For ele, just talk about the launch, the number of days in space, the number of orbits, the guys going. for advanced, talk about that, plus the science that the taikonauts might be doing in space, the pride of the Chinese people.

Or tell me that cpod already has a lesson and I didn't see it.

September 24, 2008 at 6:13 PMtvan, is that ren2min2 shi2? people's cities? I "know" about 10-30 characters, but have learned to recognize characters for most of the large cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Lanzhou, etc.)

September 24, 2008 at 3:05 PMspeaking of aerodynamics (and requests for lesson topics), I can't believe there's no lessons on China's space program. Especially on the eve of another manned mission launch. We can speak topically about something important for China and the Chinese people that only 3 countries can do for themselves.
