October 21, 2008 at 2:27 AMwish I understood the argument in mandarin. Nice pace to the dialogue though. The pdf shows a pretty thought-out argument. Somehow, I was hoping to get into a discussion of enterprise value or financial aspects of the companies, even if there wouldn't be a comparison of Chinese vs. American GAAP.

October 19, 2008 at 2:54 PMGood video. Native speaker speaking at natural speed and discussing a topic we don't really hear much about at the lower levels. What little i understood sounded like:
" I want to tell you -------. when i was a university student, .... i was in the army. I learned goose-step walk (marching), shooting.... my classmate next to me.... target......."
I would agree a transcript would be nice for those of us that didn't understand the story. Or maybe cpod should be clear that this is really an advanced video, and no transcript is forthcoming in the near term.

October 13, 2008 at 7:14 PMHi John,
Kate the intern says she's working on a project to improve the site. I think if there was anything that cpod could do to get the dozens of suggestions that we users have made, then publicizing Kate's work in the next news and features podcast, and asking that we make our suggestions there as well as on these boards might be a good start in giving us cpod subscribers the transparency we seek in lesson suggestion and incorporation. Thanks.

October 13, 2008 at 4:54 PMJohn, Jenny, Amber,
not that this topic has anything to do with the lesson, but i've become aware that cpod has an intern asking for suggestions/comments. I've noticed that dozens of people have posted suggestions/comments here on lesson bulletin boards, and yet it seems that cpod doesn't really do anything with these suggestions (notwithstanding John's statements above, but video is far from the only topic that cpod subscribers have made suggestions about, as cpod should be aware). Kate the intern's efforts are needed, but if cpod is serious about supporting her work, John and Jenny should probably promote what she's doing on news and features, and also start doing things like getting us users in the habit of making suggestions at the forum that Kate created. Or get Kate the intern to go through all the lesson bulletin boards and pull our suggestions from them. Thanks.
