I've already told my irony laden stories in Chinese, and gotten a laugh.  But most of the time, i'm told that my sketch comedy derived stories aren't funny.  Damn you, Saturday Night Live!!!!

huh. Warren Buffet singing. I'm going to roll that one around for awhile.... I would have actually bothered to watch the remaining 2 hours of the show if I had though they would show Warren Buffett singing. On the other hand, I hate singing in general, so maybe I still would have passed....

Somehow, the program seems more subdued this year than last year.

I think it starts in another 45 minutes from now, at 7pm China time today.

regarding the chōngzhíkǎ, yes, that's not the SIM card. No choosing of a phone number is required. You just have to be clear about China Mobile vs. China Unicom. Regarding the SIM card, I've only heard SIM kǎ, but i'm sure some native speaker can weigh in with the real deal.

When I say, "yòu zhuǎn", the driver says, "yòu guǎi". When I say "yòu guǎi", the driver says, "yòu zhuǎn". I gave up. My take is that these are very common usages. I'm sure that some native could go on to say where the driver is from based on this, but i'm claiming victory for getting to my destination without a lot of gesticulating or pleas for help.

Lots of action packed marketing terminology here.  Great stuff.  Couple of thoughts:

1) happy that I changed my Chinese name from  彭福莱 to something hip.  President Peng indeed sounds pretty old.

2) if only we were talking about sources for the data.  People usually ask about where the market data came from.
