2014, and it's getting near time to tee it up again (if I might mix up my sports metaphors). Here's to hoping that the US dunks on Ghana, executes a clean pass on the Portugal chicane, and completes the hail mary over Germany into the quarterfinal. It ain't over 'til its over!

For amusement, we should look to see how many countries that were in South Africa 2010 are in Brazil 2014. Probably a high % returned.

So here it is, May 2014, and in the 2014 version of the World Cup, I like the idea of playing Americans with European football experience. So here's hoping that the US can beat Ghana and Portugal, and tie Germany. I'd love to see the naysayers proved wrong. But if they're right, there's always Brazil....

And I'm 100% ok with Landon Donovan not being on the USMNT. The US lost world cup matches with him, they can lose matches without him. I'm betting on Klinsmann at this point.

In theory, the US should at least have no problem with Ghana, as Ghana is ranked 38th in FIFA world rankings, and the mighty US is ranked 14th.  Sadly, Germany is ranked 2nd, and Portugal 3rd.......so I might have to root for my backup team again...
