I mean, The popup for自给自足 has the pinyin as zìjǐzìzú. But shouldn't it be zìgěizìzú?

There isn't a popup translation for  伸  in the dialogue.

This cucumber dish always seems to come with the cucumbers cut in irregular pieces.  Somehow, back in the States, I didn't hear a lot of that type of description, so if I didn't know any better, i'd just cut the cucumber into round, same-sized slices or cubes. That would probably affect the taste.  Or at least affect the sensations.

I thought that was pretty funny, until I realized I have wads of 100RMB notes in my pocket.....but I don't see any girls, and I don't see any drugs... the last time I checked, my credit was ok, but that was a while ago....

Interesting how in this lesson the payment for the accident was handled in the street. I recall seeing a guy bleeding from his head standing up then sitting down, then standing up again near the intersection of a street near my apartment.  A young woman in a late model white Audi A5 had apparently hit him with her car, as there was a small stain of blood on the street near the driver's door.  She was on the phone talking to, it later appears, 110, because the ambulance came for the injured guy.  He looked to be too out of it to start bargaining over payments for the hospital, missed work, suffering, etc.

Cool story. Nothing that quirky and rare happened in my high school. I just remember where I was when I first heard kids starting to talk about a song called "rapper's delight".

I wonder what can be said about your sense of humor, other than you fit right in with the Becker and Fagen crowd..... I might make some grand statement based on one data point, but i've noticed I have a dry sense of humor ("no fart jokes") also.

I love it... Kids are so easy to please!

In the car, we make giant banana splits, where my little girl sits in the back of the taxi with me, and I hold out my hands and ask her to make me some ice cream. She asks what I want, and pretends to give it to me, so I ask for a bananas, 3 kinds of ice cream, crushed heath bar, crushed peanuts, Reese's peanut butter cup, M&Ms, sprinkles, raspberry, chocolate and strawberry syrup, whipped cream, and 3 cherries. Then I make one for her! :-)
