This was helpful, but I thought I would finally learn Chinese rank structure. It's not clear to me that the ways that a Chinese person would refer to a low rank person is the same as the way someone would refer to an Chinese officer, versus an Chinese Enlisted man.  In fact, when I casually read press releases about high-level defense contacts, I read something about the Secretary of Defense meeting with some Chinese General, so I assume the Chinese rank structure is similar for Enlisted men and Officers as it is in the rest of the world.

Here's the US Army's (same as for the US Air Force and the US Marines).  By the way, the Chinese military doesn't have Marines?

I know the Air Force usually takes the back seat on "best looking uniform" contests.

Actually, here's a better link to compare all the US services ranks:

Interesting.  Some people seemed to really like this lesson, yet it received 1 star from one person.  A number of different things can be said about the effectiveness of the rating system, although I'm not sure when the star-rating system started.

Hi Toianw, thanks for taking the time to dig that lesson up.

Why is it 大家介绍一下...? shouldn't it be  大家介绍一下向。。? in other words, I don't understand why the xiàng is in front of "everybody" in the first sentence of the dialogue.

Somehow, i'm happy that we're not starting a contest of "Everybody's Most Annoying Ringtones".

As in Grateful Dead "Deadheads"? If there are, I haven't seen them wearing their shirts. As I think about Americana exported to China, there is a Harley Davidson dealership in Beijing. I've seen a few riders around town.

Well I guess being the next Bill Walton is a better fate than being the next Chuck Nesbitt.

Hasn't Yao been constantly injured these past few years?  I thought Houston was playing him for 10 minutes a game or something.

I wish ordering out were as easy and straightforward as in this dialogue.
