In Beijing at least, you can add money to your transportation card in one of the many automated machines they have in the subway stations.  You can also use the transportation card to pay taxi fares (so I have been told).

Hi Catherine,

Not that i'm expecting much insight into how Cpod decides which topics merit lessons, but I suppose out of the many suggestions that I and others have made, it would be helpful to know. Clarity around lesson topic selection would certainly provide the cpod lesson suggestion community with a better idea of what to suggest for a lesson. Certainly I can understand if certain topics have sensitivities around them for various reasons, but some topics have no or few lessons around them at all.

A staple of the Chinese kitchen. I'm glad I delegated the purchase of a rice cooker to others.

I did see that you posted the link with way many more antivirus vendors than I listed. It was only that you then called out by name the Security Essentials product as well (which I am happily using as well).

I'm not a security analyst, but i've talked with enough to agree with you; Microsoft has done plenty to address Windows vulnerabilities, and probably doesn't get as much credit as it deserves. I'm not really interested in the Windows/Mac/Linux debate/flamewar , but I always think that hubris is one of the most interesting and enduring vulnerabilities, and Microsoft on the security front doesn't seem to have the hubris problem.

I'll remind myself that next time that cpod creates a computer related lesson (if they do), to let you post in peace. I didn't mean to irritate, although in retrospect, I can see where that might be the case. Back to the ego drawing board :).

Well, i guess it depends on how you define further details behind "computer related". The list of lessons I provided above are all internet and desktop/laptop computer related. Overall, the lessons suggest a casual use and interest in computer technology, which is likely the average Cpod user.

But if you're an IT person, these lessons are ice cubes floating in the computing Atlantic Ocean. So if you were working in a datacenter and were interested in whether or not to host SAP on a 4-way box, or whether or not to migrate from VMware ESX to Microsoft Hyper-V, there are no lessons on Cpod that even attempt to start down that path. I think only one or two lessons even have the word "server" in them, and I think only one lesson has "application" (somebody feel free to correct me if i'm wrong). So you can pretty much forget terms flying around IT departments like "virtualization", "server consolidation", "data deduplication" "configuration management database" (stovepipe, anyone?) and so on.

Personally, I would have thought that Cpod would have had at least one "Blackberry" lesson. But I suspect no one at Cpod has a Blackberry. :-)

Too bad there wasn't some dialog in the lesson about "Reinstalling your Applications"
