Hi bababardwan, I don't even want to think about snow right now, thank you very much. ;-)

Thanks jimijames. 营 looked like the right word, but couldn't find confirmation anywhere. Your examples are what I had in mind. I'm going to jot those down.

I've been meaning to see it, but lately I've been in more of a Cartoons and Superheroes frame of mind. 呵呵.

Hey Baba, I noticed that the 2006 film "Blood Diamond" is translated directly as 血鑽石 (血钻石) Xuè zuàn shí.

Don't know if this link will work in China.

I'd be interested in knowing the other terms you mentioned as well.

Maybe 蒸馏水 distilled water might be the solution? Yuck!

Actually Bodawei, I always heard it took around 10 minutes, but the OA Guide to Water Purification website confirms that you are indeed correct, not that that surprises me. :-) It notes, though, that while boiling will destroy organic contaminants, it does n o t remove chemical toxins (e.g. pesticides).

This reminds me of the Heinzelmännchen from Cologne, Germany. These little guys came around at night and did all the work for the city's folk, until one night when a curious resident spoiled things.

Hi Changye, I'm only a few episodes in, but I'm really getting into it. I watched a lot of that 60's era stuff in reruns as a kid. (I'm quite taken by Fuji, I must admit.)

Maybe I will pick up some Japanese too, as you say hehe. At least I'll learn how to scream "monster!" It's a real testament to the Japanese people, that you were able to turn your country into the economic powerhouse it is today despite all those monster attacks!

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to keep my eyes open for Ultra Seven too.

My sister spotted the complete Ultraman DVD series in a bargain bin for $7.99 this afternoon! Japanese w/English subs. or dubbed English. No Chinese dub. though. Should keep me busy for a while.
