I still remember a particularly bad restaurant I went to in Germany.

Normally I always tip in a restaurant with a waiter serving your table, but at this restaurant the service was so slow and the waiter so arrogant and surly that I was pretty pissed off by the time the bill came.

A 10% tip had been automatically printed on my bill, as paying a tip is the expected custom there.

Instead of paying the tip, I took out a pen and crossed out the 10% printed on the bill, then I counted out the exact amount of the bill (minus tip) in coins and notes.

I tell you, I was just WAITING for someone to challenge me abt not paying the expected tip. I wanted to give someone my opinion about how crappy their service was, and undeserving of gratuities.

No-one asked. Perhaps they already knew.

I find it difficult to raise even the slightest bit of interest in financial matters, markets, business and how to make a buck. That's just not my bag.

Dare I say it? For me, this series of shows is too narrowly focused on business, and features little that I want to hear about.

I would prefer a series that covered a more broad spectrum of stories from China about culture, lifestyle, science and technology, music, arts, education, regional stories etc.

Shit, shit, SHIT!!

I don't know what the F*%$ is wrong!

It seems I'll never manage to embed a picture in my CP postings.

I give up, OK... here's a link to my picture, assuming it won't be blocked by the Great Firewall of China:

Okaaaay.... here's my FINAL attempt to post a picture in here:

PRC Flag in Canberra

If this works, you should be able to see the PRC flag flying in front of the Australian federal parliament house.

If not, I'll just go and head-desk repeatedly for a while...

I was in Canberra yesterday, and even there the day is being commemorated:

PRC Flag in Canberra

DAMMIT! I don't think I'll ever learn how to insert images in CP discussions!!

@ andr3y

I suspect his role as co-founder of the Kuomintang has a LOT to do with it!

if you translate the name 小雨 into English you get Little Rain, which sounds like a native American name.

And I first remembered the character 雨 because it looked to me like an open umbrella with raindrops falling INSIDE it!

Happy birthday PRC?

I think I'll just leave it to other ppl to say that.

I may seem like someone who doesn't have any political opinions

But I'm actually someone who has definite political opinions but thinks that this site, managed in Shanghai, may not be the appropriate venue for me to voice those opinions.

Pity we can't always just say what we are thinking and feeling.
