Minor comment, in expansion section...following example needs second phrase 汉字 to match both the audio, and the written english。。 而不。。。 “ 父母应该经常鼓励孩子。 (Parents should constantly encourage their children, rather than scold them.)“ 对了。。我就买好了到上海的机票。。我在上海会过春季..到达二月一日然后在中国待两个星期....你们二月五日上班的话,我就要去你那儿聊天..

November 8, 2007 at 4:31 PMhenning, goulniky, 感谢。。 so "people" has 个, 口 and 名 as measure words...so would 名 also be the measure word for 演员? almost as though 名 is the MW for celebreties?

November 8, 2007 at 2:28 PMThe following expression is interesting. (It seems like it's going to rain.) Does this imply that in Chinese people express that the "sky" is going to rain, where this connection is just assumed in English? What is the purpose of 名 in the following sentence? I initially thought it was shortened version of 名字 for "famous" or "professional" (as opposed to us weekend athletes), and it doesn't seem to be a measure word? In exercises 1/3, the second question, both sentences seem correct, but have different meanings. (probably cannot / won't come) 他不可能来了. (cannot / not possible (to) come )

November 8, 2007 at 1:54 PMAny guidance on when to use 好像 versus 看起来 versus 看上去? Also, the expansion has a sentence something like "I hope he is better soon“, using 早点好。。 I know that getting better from an illness is 病号, so is healing from an injury 受伤好。。 or 愈合 or something else. Thanks for the useful dialogue and even better expansion section! 祝你们有愉快的一天。。

November 17, 2007 at 4:27 PMshanyisheng, i learned that 听力 is listening comprehension, so it describes your ability to understand what you have heard (or not understand), not your actual hearing ability or inability. 。
