Posted on: To bag or not to bag?
December 2, 2008 at 8:25 PMI've only had to pay for bags at some organic, eco-friendly, tree-bark munching co-ops. Personally, I prefer a good leather shopping bag, especially at the U-Bag-It places here in the U.S. Do they have those in China?

December 1, 2008 at 8:08 PMahmabear, PDF's on both my Mac and Laptop (MS Vista) both open normally with the usual range of print options. What type of system are you using?

November 30, 2008 at 5:17 AMchas33735, I'm not sure of the precise reference, but I've had people walk into the communal hotel shower and wash vegetables for the downstairs restaurant.
My youngest son learned a Northern accent and, since he's come back, I can't understand half of what he says.

November 30, 2008 at 5:10 AMhouban, for a precise pronunciation, I suggest you focus on Connie's.
Also, though I can't say what a French "J" sounds like, I was taught to use a pronunciation similar to Amber's. I've also heard 让/讓/ràng pronounced yàng in the south and even shàng, though the latter might have been a dialect.

November 30, 2008 at 12:40 AMkaoshiung, 我覺得廣東烤鴨比北京烤鴨好吃,但是如果你要決定你一定要去北京吃。當然臺灣的北京鴨比不上北京的。
Bill, I'm no expert on Chinese history but, despite being named one of China's four ancient capitals, I think that, using Chinese standards, Beijing only qualifies as a "middle aged" capital. It was made the capital by the Mongols around 1200 A.D. 洛阳/洛陽/Lùoyáng and 西安/Xīān have much longer, storied histories.
Of course, given China's numerous civil wars, it is arguable what even constitutes a "Capital of China", since many other cities were capitals of derivative states. Even as recently as WWII, Chongqing served as China's capital city. (Yeah, yeah, I know; there's only one China.)

November 29, 2008 at 2:20 AMUser28066, 這是很平常的問題。 如果你要看繁體字的 PDF, 就附錄 “trad" 在 PDF 文件名字的 後面。例如这課程的 PDF 叫做 ”chinesepod_E1041.pdf。" 如果你打 "chinesepod_E1041trad.pdf", 和打 "Enter," 會看繁體字。
If you didn't understand my lousy Chinese, let me know, and I'll post again in English.
