让 is 'ask somebody to do something/have somebody do something'. 让他去ràngtāqù, 让Vera上课ràng...shàngkè...

孙子 is 'grandson‘.

孙女 is 'granddaughter'.

If you need to say 'grandchildren', you have to use '孙子孙女’.

1. Usually there are 40 students per class. The number of students drop out after 初中 is totally different in different area. Usually in cities like Shanghai, only very few students will drop out. But in rural area, a lot of students will drop out. 60%-70%will enter the university after 高中 including 。

2. Different provinces have different system for entrying elementary schools and middle shools. In Shanghai, there is no test. Students apply for those schools. Though no test, it's even harder to apply for good schools.

3. I don't have a lot of knowledge of experimental schools. Coz it's not common in Shanghai. I will leave the questions for others to answer. :-)

Hi, the audio is bu2tai4. But in the dictionary, 不 is always 4th tone. We only change tones when we read it. So in ChinesePod, we never mark 不 as 2nd tone. But we should change it when we pronounce it.

Usually we won't use ”过“in the '炒' case. 炒 is always followed by only 了 or 掉了。
