September 15, 2007 at 3:02 AMIt just occurred to me that I have a really auspicious cell phone number and never had to pay an extra kuai for it. Bought it here in China. And yep, I am still waiting to get rich... But then, that's all relative, isn't it? I am content the way I am. No need to worry about all the stuff that could get stolen , if I had it in the first place

September 14, 2007 at 1:20 PMYeah, Amber, I have yet to find somebody who is convinced and lowers the price, when I explain that I am one of the "poor waiguo ren". The poor do not really have the money to fly across the globe, do they?

September 13, 2007 at 11:39 AMthanks, John, for explanations and links I finally got time to work through the example sentences. I already did a dictionary look up to compare meaning before that. I think I am clearer now. I will just have to listen to people and how they use those terms to let their meaning sink in.

September 13, 2007 at 2:11 AMYeah, that's unfortunate. Although, I think arranged marriages can work really well. Expectations are different than in "love marriages". Not that I have any experience. My grandparents marriage was more or less arranged and it was not a happy affair.

September 15, 2007 at 3:04 AMThat's true. I have been in landscapes where it looks exactly like that, though. Could provide pictures, too. But they are so stunningly beautiful that I am reluctant to share them...
