June 24, 2011 at 3:48 AMCruel twist of fate. I hope it wasn't inspired by anyone at CPOD's real life...Connie?

June 20, 2011 at 7:18 AMRyan Seacrest is a man's man. I'd love to have a beer and shoot a gun with him....although the beer would probably be a low-carb michelob light and the gun a blowdryer.

June 20, 2011 at 2:31 AMNo idea what happened. Meant to post that in reply to your thoughtful probing of our maligned protagonist's psychological state.

June 20, 2011 at 2:22 AMYeah I see your point. That might just be because the kid was a little freaked out or indifferent. I feel like I could also visualize a Chinese woman saying, "你穿西装。。。好可爱!“ And the kid still being like, "Whatever."
In my case I kind of feel it was the opposite though...like I thought I was being more Chinese by just tossing around a 美女 here or a 帅哥 there, regardless of how much it really applied to the individual in question. I thought his reaction was pretty atypical--like I am not actually calling you handsome...I just want to be polite and possibly receive faster service. I was wondering at the time if his sense of humor was advanced. Maybe its my own incompetence and a tendency to use the terms too liberally.

June 19, 2011 at 11:46 AMRegarding 哥们儿, I have a tough time accepting that it translates to "dude" and "bro". I will continue calling my coworkers dude and bro.
Lol at John's "linguistic freedom". It truly is a luxury for heterosexual men who just want to walk the streets and call each other handsome without fear of reproach.
One time when I called my waiter 帅哥,he looked at me very seriously and said, "我不帅。”

June 17, 2011 at 8:01 AMHe's just going through a rough patch where he needs running water to ease the weight of untold emotional hardship. We've all been there. Several times.
