Man2Toe I do have the firefox plug in. I can see the tradional characters, but I can't do anything with it!! For the past few years I have been copying & pasting all the chinese words I didn't know to a Word file. These had been mainly from Yahoo's Taiwan News site. I then memorize them so that when I see them again, I'll be able to recognize them. I continually review them so that they will eventually go from short term memory to long term memory. Then it becomes hard to forget. I really like it when Chinese is hard to forget!!!!

user10405 The fact that we have so many complaints, shows the various ways we all use this. For me this is still the best method of learning to understand what we hear. Nobody will ever listen to us for long, if we can't understand what they say. I only have 2 complaints, it's impossible to be able cut & paste traditional characters. And there is no way to get from Intermediate to Advanced!!! The more complex a lesson is, the less explanation in plane english is given!!! The only way to solve the second problem is to find the Chinese equivalent of the Spanish language course that had snippets of live radio programs and interviews on the street, and then explained in plane english. I'm actively looking, but I don't remember the name of it....though Living Language might be it, but I really wish I knew for sure the name. I completely analyzed what I need to become fluent, and that's all that I need.

my post about NASA's comment didn't say which side he was on. The NASA chief did say there was no data to prove global warming. Ofcourse the media blasted him for saying that, so he apologized for making such a statement.

If there is any information about global warming, NASA would have it!! The other day the head of NASA said something to that effect. Unfortunately he apologized after making that statement, (for political reasons)

I met a Vietnamese family that came to the US from central Vietnam. They learned to recognize and read chinese characters in Vietnam, but they developed there own words for them. They can write the characters and they know the meaning, but nobody else would understand what they are saying. I’ve seen that same thing happen in one of my chinese classes. Students learn from each other and the teacher doesn’t correct them. Soon they have developed there own language and I guarantee that nobody on the street will ever understand them!!! Can that happen here? Everybody can be understood on Chinesepod, but on the street? When posting in characters, I was starting to learn by other people’s posts, but someone gave me a list of the one’s to trust!!! Perhaps we need a rating system for each person. Like 1% - 100% trustworthy!! I bet some people use google to get their chinese characters. That I know won’t be good Chinese, but I have no way of knowing!!!

Hmm.... it's looking like we need Taiwan engineers. I have many chinese language books that have similar problems, they are obviously written by mainland chinese!!

I think they need to hire some Chinese Engineers!!! They are probably outsourcing their engineering work to some 3rd world country!! Some of the brightest minds that I've worked with were Chinese and you can bet that the problem we are having with the Space Station today, is being worked by some of the smartest brains in the world - many of the Chinese!!!

matleena It seems that we both are using Cpod for the same reasons!!! I also was so excited under the old system that I could actually copy and paste from the pdf files. I compile all the words that I didn't know or recognize. Then I try to memorize them, that's the way I learn. Now it's becoming a real pain. Would you believe it, the day I subscribed, they changed everything!!!! Like you, I don't have the time to find the meanings of words on my own, this was why I subscribed to Cpod in the first place!! matleena If that html file is on the server, how can I find it? I only subscribed to the basic package, mainly because I don't have time for anything else. alexyzye I still don't understand your math. I was sure that we were getting a new lesson mon-fri. That means 5 lessons/week. You are saying that you are excited because you get 2 lessons on the weekends. How does that massively improve anything. I only saw 1 lesson during this week!!!! For a potential total of 3!!!

What massive improvement??? I hope chinese math wasn't used to come to that conclusion!! I can know longer copy and paste from the pdf files. The original pdf had both traditional & simplied, now you get one or the other, but not both! Using the text version still only gives the simplied!! Furthermore, the Advanced text file doesn't even have the pinyin!!!!
