Thank you yangk999. Can you tell me if 我给你说 is considered proper grammar? I have never been taught this, but it seems that it is familiar with most Chinese people (I think Rags above is Chinese).

I'm an American. I haven't detected much anti-American sentiment. I know that some of them harbor these feelings, but I would have to say that I never feel like saying I'm an American puts an end to the conversation.

I've got a question.  It seems to me that I hear 我给你说话 a lot on the streets.  Am I right?  What's the difference between this and 我跟你说话?  I kind of feel like 我给你说话 has a "I'll tell you like it is" feel to it.
