This picture reminds me of one of my all-time favorite bands, Devo.

Again, I'm not saying that anything was intentional. I'm just commenting on how it appears. I gave two examples above (now in the hidden portion) that I think would be suitable for all poddies. I think sensitivity goes both ways, right?

No offense Catherine, if you take other parts of the intro into account (i.e later on we are given two straightforward theories: humans come from god or apes), and take note that 一个连聪明的科学家们都无法解决的问题 is written in simple terms, the message does not seem to mean "although scientist are generally in agreement that evolution is the origin of humankind, they still haven't come to a total conclusion." No, it seems to simply say, "Scientist don't know." I know I'm being a bit picky, but it kind of irks me when science is misrepresented. My point is, might as well make it clear.

CPod

By the way, I really do think the lesson introduction above should be changed. Call me picky, but it is misleading, and could even be misconstrued as being biased against scientific interpretations of the origin of humankind (although I'm sure that isn't your intention).

Here is an interesting article about the North Korean government enticing Chinese stars to support them at the World Cup:

There are always ways to justify such a move.

A temporary action to 'restore order'

Whereupon the Chinese government would establish a 'puppet government'

I'm not so certain that South Korea wouldn't step in, though. I have talked to some South Koreans about this before. They are divided. Some state the obvious: reunification would be quite tough, much tougher than the German reunification. However, there would be benefits. One, its population would increase, making it much closer to the size of Japan's (but still off by about 50 million). Two, a good source of cheap labor for a while. In theory this would slowly go away as standards move up, but this definitely would take some time. Three, perhaps the most obvious, a feeling that the natural state of the Korean people is finally back in order.

Of course, dealing with the social differences would be quite hard. I imagine North Korean primary students would have to say "Kim Jong-Il is not my dear leader" every day for a while. I'm only half kidding.

Yeah, that's a bit weird.
