My wife named my goldfish 红红, so I guess this method holds true for fish too.

sammy, you just reminded me of a Chinese idiom I learned today, 咬文嚼字 [yǎowénjiáozì]pay excessive attention to wording. Don't get the wrong idea, though. I agree.

Everyone has a right to his or her opinion, but I for one am slightly (and when I say slightly, I mean slightly) disappointed in the censorship and am a little offended by the suggestion that what was originally written was dishonorable. I lived with my wife before I married her and I am glad I did. Okay, I'll let it go now ;).

I assume that is because we would have to then define a superdoubleduperpower which ONLY THEN will become confusing ;)

Very, very interesting read, Tal. Thanks. All seriousness aside, I really liked this comment:

The real question is who will become the first superduperpower.

Hey, what was your professor's name?

Oh yeah, I think that saying is right.  Thanks.  Did you already know that saying or do you have a kick-ass place to find Confucius quotes?

That is interesting!  I will say I have seen mei and bu in textbooks.  Because the government defines what is standard Chinese, both should be right no matter where you go, at least from what I have heard.
