September 10, 2009 at 9:10 AM什麼 means what. In fact, today, we write it 什么.The word 什么 is simplified Chinese character, and the word 什麽 is the original complex form of a simplified Chinese character ,and the word 甚麼 shouldn't write like this.

So, you can remember if you think it's a gift(礼物 li4 wu4), you should say "这个东西是她送给我的" or "这个东西是她送我的" (zhe4 ge dong1 xi shi4 ta1 song4 (gei3) wo3 de)
"他把这个东西给我了" or "他把这个东西给了我" is not emphasize that thing is a gift, but only borrow it to you or that thing is no longer useful for him and he send it to you.
So, if you wanna emphasize the thing is a gift, you should use "送".

You listened to the sounds for both bi3 and zhi3 they sound more like be-eh and jr-eh just because they wanna emphasize the third tone.Just like when you talk to Chinese you usually will speak more slowly and clearly.

In spoken Chinese, if you're a girl, you should call your bag "包"bao1 , and if you with a man fashion bag ,we call it "包" , too. So you see, we call the fashion bags "包".
But if like you said "a bag to carry the things I have bought", we call it "袋子"dai4zi.
And not only the "plastic bag"(塑料袋 su4 liao4 dai4) we call it "袋子", but also all the bags seems like plastic bag called "袋子".Not matter what it made from, the clothes or the papers.
Are these useful? And did I make any mistake with grammar?

比如:
哪怕明天下雨,我也要去北京.
即使明天下雨,我也要去北京.
我一定要去北京,即使明天下雨.
但是一般不会说 我一定要去北京,哪怕明天下雨.
可是在口语里,有时候会说:
我一定要买这样东西,哪怕借钱呢,我也能先用上.
第一部分表示自己的愿望"买这样东西",中间部分说出可能的情况"借钱",最后一部分解释第一部分的原因"先用上"
