Hey!

I am not sure if it is the right place to post this... but it isn't I hope my excitment will make for it. I'm going in China for the first time tonight (in Hong Kong right now).

I guess  many people here have travelled through china so does anybody know a good alternative to the plane to go from Chengdu to Lijiang?

My plan is to spend one or two days in Chengdu then go to Lijiang area (Sangri-la, Shitoucheng,Shaxi...) and if I have time go south to Yuanyang. What do you think of this for a 2week trip!?

Hey laurent_13 - your trip sounds fabulous. I've been here for quite a while and have not been to most of the places you refer to.. I'm jealous.  

'Alternative to the plane from Chengdu to Lijiang'? 

I can only imagine what you have in mind - bus? Direct? To take the train you would have to go Chengdu-Kunming, Kunming to Lijiang. This is very mountainous country so those train trips are quite slow (maybe 18 hrs and 8 hrs express respectively.) If you only have two weeks, best to fly. That's why they call it a 'flying' visit, hee hee.
