A farewell to Aggie
frank
February 14, 2008, 11:58 PM posted in General DiscussionThis is Aggie. Many of you have heard the name, but her face has been largely absent from this place.
I was lucky enough to be a guinea pig for the Practice Plan when it was first rolled out, and I spent a few minutes every day for a few months talking to this great teacher. I'm proud to say that we became fast friends.
This picture was taken on Aggie's last day at ChinesePod. She and her husband will be moving to Australia in just a few days and I'll expect those of you Down Under to show her a proper welcome.
Please join me in wishing Aggie the very best of luck as she embarks on this new journey. She will be sorely missed.

February 15, 2008, 03:08 AMHmmm... Now with Skype and all this other fancy internet stuff, Aggie can continue to be our teacher from anywhere in the world. We will never know she is not in Shanghai. AuntySue becomes the lucky one now. ;) Good luck with the move Aggie.

February 15, 2008, 05:53 AMI remember when Aggie called me in Beijing after I was selected to become a test user for the "Guided Service" (pre-decessor of the Practice Plan) about 18 months ago. A CPod celebrety on the phone - known from all those Intermediate and Advanced podcasts! And my kids screaming in the background so I could hardly understand a word.... Aggie turned out to be a highly gifted teacher. And a very warm-hearted also. She will indeed be missed. Aggie: All the best in Australia for you and your family. Stay in touch with the CPod community!

February 15, 2008, 09:04 AMYeah, few employees have been around nearly as long as Ken and Jenny, but Aggie is one of them. She has done a great job, and we will miss her.

February 15, 2008, 09:58 AMi haven't had that kind of experience like some others (practice plan and it's predecessor...), but i liked the podcasts where Aggie was a host. The sound of her voice sounded very warm! I envy AuntySue, who now has the opportunity to book her as a real life teacher ;-)

February 15, 2008, 10:56 AMYeah, but because I gloated, now I'll probably find that she's settling somewhere like Perth, which is about the same distance as Shanghai from here! :-)

February 15, 2008, 11:04 AMI've only ever talked to Aggie once after winning a practice plan session on Movie Madness but it instantly made me a huge fan. She knows exactly how to encourage and motivate you and even though I could hardly put two words together at that point (now I may be able to put three or four together ;-) ) I felt so proud of myself after the lesson and very confident about being able to learn this language. Aggie, I'm very sad I won't get another possibility but all my best wishes for your new life in Australia! :-)
