what's your impression of inner mongolia

I lived in Hohhot for almost a year. There's something so addictive about inner mongolia which makes you feel like going back there all the time...the people,music,the hotpot,the mongolian bars. Would recommend anyone travelling to Beijing to make a visit to this beautiful province and check out the grasslands.

My ancestors are from Inner Mongolia. For me, music (吉祥三宝 brougt it to national popularity) really sums it up: the culture, the people, the land. Freedom, horses, grassland, courage. I suppose i have a rather romanticised impression of inner Mongolia.

北京和上海你都可以说是你的老家，中国人有山不亲，水亲，水不亲，人亲，人不亲来土还亲的思想。所以中国人觉得同是一个地方的人会很亲，即老乡亲。所以你遇到上海人就说你老家是上海，遇到北京人就说你老家是北京，呵呵这样可以拉近彼此关系。呵呵！社交课。

you know much about inner mongolia, haha. yes the "little sheep" and hotpot are very famous in there. and "little sheep" is famous in the whole Country hehe.
Baotou is a important industry city in my hometown, some times it more famous than huhehaote(呼和浩特）——the center of inner mongolia. and near my home. just need 4 hour to arrive there

你误会了哦。应该是老家不一定是现在住的地方但是也不一定非得是自己的出生地，老家在很大程度上的意义是父亲或是爷爷的出生地。
我如果说我是内蒙人那么我家现在一定是在内蒙。而且说我老家是哪里哪里，则不一定了。

你出生在甘肃，你的祖籍或说是原籍当然也在甘肃，
而且老家往往意味着祖籍，所以你老家就等于你的出生地。
反过来说，老家不一定是你父母现在所在的地方。

Love it. The best hotpot I've ever had was in Baotou in Inner Mongolia. "Little Sheep" is also pretty good, and it's supposed to be Mongolian-style hotpot, right?

在中国有种说法叫祖籍。我祖籍是甘肃啊，但是我现在的家是在内蒙古哦。
老家和家乡在平常的口语中是有点不一样的呵呵。

I only passed through Mongolia quickly once and, unfortunately, that was one of the few times I succumbed to the (for me) dreaded tour. Got a traditional dance by a bunch of smiling girls in traditional costumes by day. At night they all put on their normal clothes and went back to their apartments leaving us tourists to our traditional concrete yurts. :-( One of these years I'll go back without the guide.
