Has anyone renewed their Visa in Shanghai? I am a little confused about where to go, and it would be great to find out here rather than searching for hours

办签证麻烦不麻烦?

Sorry kesirui I can't help but at least this'll get your question back up there :)

Just go to the nearest 公安局 first. Incidentally, what kind of visa do you have?

bababardwan,

haha, thanks, I was afraid I was lost in the flurry. Its not very complicated, I just neglected to find out where I need to go to renew it when I was getting it for the first time in Chicago, you just pay them and wait... the women helping me was rather hard to understand.

Changye,

I have did go to the 公安局 actually, they tried to be helpful, they did give me an address but no phone number, I'm not sure the communication was that great... I have a 90 day (L) tourist visa because I came on the heels of the Olympics and didn't have much choice.

Hi kesirui,

I recommend you ask one of your Chinese friends to go the place with you just to be sure. I think there is no problem with extending L visa in Shanghai.

you can go to the visa office in pudong.  Its near the science and technology museum and if you take the subway/metro it is signposted from there.  I can't remember which exit but it might be exit three.  I'm sure if you look at one of the metro maps in the metro station it will tell you...
