New Video Series

December 11, 2008, 06:19 AM posted in General DiscussionWhat's the Story has had a nice run, but we're ready to try something quite different and new with video.
Over the weeks we've come to the conclusion that the weekend is not the best time to release videos, because our staff is not working then, and we can't always give the discussion around a new show and a new format the immediate attention it deserves. That's why this Saturday there will be no What's the Story video. There will be a new video next Wednesday (which will also give us a little extra time to polish the new show a little, which follows a completely new format.)
I don't want to give away any surprises, but the new show is... special. There's probably a better word to describe it which will come to me later.
Stay tuned!

December 11, 2008, 08:19 AMAs much as I've enjoyed wts, you've read [at least my ] mind.I was going over the vocab tour of the hair salon the other day and thinking that it's great that you've explored different ways of using the video medium and was wondering if you'd start experimenting again [hang on;maybe I've read your minds] with another way yet again to use the medium.Yeah, bring it on;really looking forward to it.

December 11, 2008, 04:58 PMIf they are going to be anything like the preview I have seen for the SpanishPOD video "The Volatile Translator", I'll be glad for the change. Sesame street styled videos are all fine and dandy but I really do like to see the actors speaking their parts to be able to see their body language, their lips moving, facial expressions and so forth.

December 11, 2008, 05:39 PMGreat that you continue to innovate !
Any chance that future videos could become a bit more interactive ? For example, could you include a self-test at the end to help us reinforce the vocab ?
Perhaps have some sentences from the video in English and then require the learner to translate into Chinese ?

December 11, 2008, 06:35 AMCan you tell us who the new show will be aimed at? Will it be level-specific (Newbie, etc.)?
Looking forward to it, as well!
