24 hour podcasts

April 01, 2009 at 01:52 AM posted in General DiscussionVery soon, you will be able to access our 24/7 audio streaming of ChinesePod. Instead of going into the studio and doing all that bothersome stuff, we're going to strap microphones onto ourselves, stream it live, and just talk a lot. You can simply follow us all day long.
I've decided to call this learning on my terms. I start the ball rolling with a 24 hour session of non-stop talking about me. (I'm going to try to make sure that I do some in Chinese, too.)
There's a fair chance that I will repeat myself a lot in the recordings, but I think that's a small price to pay for 24 hour non-stop lessons. A small price to pay.
So, how will you make time to listen to the whole thing? Comments are welcome.
I've been in training for this. Video coming soon.

It's a band (woman solo actually) called M.I.A. Name of the song is "Paper Planes." Unfortunately, most of her other music isn't nearly as good. But still good.

henning earlier asked something along the lines of :where in china is the best noodles grown?
The answer of course is 四川 where our Poddie mate Miantiao [they don't call him that for nothing after all] hops around the fields of 面条 on his Roo warding off all the invading Pandas.
The etymology of 四川 Sichuan is interesting too as you can see in the ancient character for the noodles tree 川 the central trunk and the noodles hanging down either side. And of course the 四 is of course referring to the 4 different original varieties noodles grown in that region.

糟糕.我忘了 youtube still blocked 在中国.谢谢为the link. Both those vids come up on the top right of the page you linked to and they're both about 50mins long.I hope I don't get to the end of the 50mins and find still no Elvis.I was a bit disappointed in the "Albany is eggcellent" t shirt.I would have liked some Chinglish like ..Albany is dancellenttastic.

Hi bababardwan
The People have apparently decided that the video is too sensitive, bud.
But Google Video is visible, which it didn't used to be. For those who want some footage of me in my wild Nanjing days, check these out.
A walk down memory lane.

I read the first paragraph then twittered that it was an "ambitious effort". I didn't realize the AF's implications until I was out and about.

Hi bababardwan and changye
Elvis is for karaoke, Sinatra is for the shower.
And you'll never see video of me singing karaoke because there is only one rule in KTV: What happens in KTV, stays in KTV ;-)

...hehe,yeah,but don't let Pete in on it.The audio of unedited unrestrained singing in the shower is the most natural and entertaining for mine, and the irony of singing "suspicious minds" would be delicious....

Too short. We need 48 hours a day. You have two studios, I two ears!

Are you sure you want to do some of this in Chinese? I recall the feedback regarding your tones when you used to speak Chinese in the early podcasts. ;)
It will be easier to follow a 24-hour tweetfest. Perhaps a tweet a minute might be a good rate.

..trying to decipher the Mandarin sleeptalking will be interesting/insightful as well as challenging.Mumbled nightmares about daft questions from Poddie babaxxxxx.... ;don't worry I won't hold it against you, given that you're a good enough sport to go 24/7.
