I suspect that Beijing cpodders don't really exist, but i'm trying as many avenues as I can.....

does anyone know of any 10Ks, 5Ks, or other small to mid distance road races for runners in Beijing?  I know the Great Wall Marathon/Half-marathon (which is outside Beijing anyway and was just held May 16), and the Beijing Marathon/half/mini which are going to be held Oct 18,2009.  Other than those two races, are there any others?

Hi, pretzellogic

I am the very man you are looking for the cpodder in Beijing.  I know of there being a road race club for lovers of long distance run in Beijing, and the members of that club often get together to hold some mini Marathon activities.  You may contact them to acquire the information on road races and even join them.

Beijing Marathon Club is located in 北京市海淀区西直门外上元村北京交通大学院内 and has its own official website http://www.pinsou.com/company/templet/1002/?bd=100272.

Could you read the information in Chinese?

If you meet with any language problem, you can e-mail me and I will help you.

Have you ever joined the Beijing Hash House Harriers? They run 10km-ish distances regularly. They're a friendly bunch and I know that a number of them run competitively (when they're not drinking beer at the hash...). Let me know if you'd like me to help put you in touch!

Hi Suxiaoya, it turns out that I was a bit aware of Hash House Harriers (the drinking club with a RUNNING problem!) for a bit. I have yet to show up for a run.  Thanks for flagging this to me.

Pretzellogic -

I'd never been a beer drinker before I came to China and tried hashing :-)

The runs can be very good though, and they're a great way to explore. I "hash" in Shanghai and would never have seen some of the areas that I have (urban and countryside), had it not been for the crazy routes they take.

I'd love to know what you think. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea!

Thanks suxiaoya, that explains why on their website they were talking about meeting at one place near where we live, and then running on the far south side of town. I haven't been in Beijing that long, but I could easily see not being ever on that side of Beijing.  I'll have to give it a try one sunday.  Unfortunately, now my problem is that I need to help take care of the 1 yr old and the 4 yr old on sundays. BHHH sounds like tons of fun once my kids get old enough to take care of themselves!
