September 27, 2009, 11:21 PMG'day Zoey, nice to meet you.I've been away on holidays for a week so only just now getting up to speed on things. All the lessons you have chosen for me in my lesson plan look interesting to me.However, life has become very busy for me and I don't seem to have as much time to study as before.I'd really like to keep up with the newly published lessons as well.I wonder if it's possible for a while to discuss the most recent intermediate lessons.I still want to feel a part of the community. In this case it was the lesson on "Two tough ladies".I haven't listened to it yet as I've been away, but could we discuss that one tomorrow?
Thanks,
Brendan

October 31, 2009, 02:07 PMHi Zoey,
I tried transcribing a section of the lesson:
Upper Intermediate - Adventures of an Andy Lau Fan on Taobao
..which is here, and was hoping you'd be so good to have a quick listen to the podcast from that level and correct my transcription. Here was my attempt:
ok,I think the leadup to that from 10:57 was:
徐洲:所以那这个卖家就是要对这个卖家投诉到底
John:那么“投诉” 这是 “make a complaint”
John:
John: to the end
John:
Particularly unsure of 徐洲's 2nd last line above.Corrections welcomed with thanks. :)
she hopes the seller goes bankrupt[closes down] or what?
this we don't know
[hoping he dies seems a bit strong, and bankruptcy seems a bit more contextual...just my 2 fen]
daodi..in the end..end of his business vs end of his life

November 02, 2009, 09:13 AMZoey,Sorry about the late notice, but it's Melbourne Cup here in Australia tomorrow and the race is on at 2pm Brisbane time [3pm Melbourne and Sydney time and 12pm Shanghai time] so I was hoping I could make our skype chat at 2:30pm instead of 2pm.I also was hoping it wasn't too late to make it the topical UI lesson "A day at the races" :http://chinesepod.com/lessons/a-day-at-the-races ? Is that Ok?
Cheers,
Brendan/baiwendeng
