Colleen Lurks!
John
October 23, 2007, 05:34 AM posted in General DiscussionLast month Colleen told me she was LURKING on ChinesePod. She was coming to the site, but choosing not to participate in our fascinating conversations!
I'm sure those of us that remember Colleen miss her and wish she would STOP LURKING.
I wonder who else is just lurking...?

October 28, 2007, 07:21 AMColleen was way ahead of her time with her suggestions on the continuation of the ZhangLiang-Lili saga. http://chinesepod.com/learnchinese/shaolin-temple/ That was way before the Ninja-lesson. If it wasn't for the rather johnish Japanese ingrediants I would have guessed that one and the Godzilla lessons were Colleen-heritage.... But the flow of Colleen ideas has stopped since she left us for Great Britain.

October 23, 2007, 07:20 AMWell, then we better make sure this thread stays on top so she has no excuse about not seeing it. :-) I joined Cpod just after Colleen left but heck, even I miss her having heard so much about her around here from the older poddies. I want to have a part of the love, too. ;-)

October 23, 2007, 08:21 AMI asked Jenny to start a gossip show on Chinesepod after seeing the advanced lessons on 八卦。Call it something like "Behind the Chinesepod Podcast" and then take us behind the scenes to find out what goes on over there. Do a segment called "他们现在在哪儿?" and start with Colleen and Aric. :-) Art

October 23, 2007, 11:08 AMJohn, Have you tried posting the Chinese version of the phrase, "olly olly oxen free!".

October 23, 2007, 11:14 AMActually, that makes me wonder: is hide-and-seek as prevalent among children in China as it is in the west? I suspect the game is a universal human phenomenon. Perhaps you all could do a lesson on children's games.

October 23, 2007, 12:14 PMNot only human. My parrot initiates this game frequently. She also insists on playing peek-a-boo every time I get home, and does her laughing dance when she manages to dodge my sight. All of this in spite of her tail being exposed whenever she hides; I'm supposed to pretend I don't see it. So these hiding games must be universal among sentient beings.

October 26, 2007, 05:39 PMI've tried, man. I e-mailed her personally and left a message on her Facebook, but to no avail. Colleen is MIA! Oh, the humanity!
John
October 23, 2007, 07:15 AMWell, if we can just get a reply out of Colleen I'll be happy.

October 26, 2007, 06:09 PMColleen has undergone gender reassignment surgery and should be available for comment as soon as her new appendage is ready for battle.

October 26, 2007, 09:24 PMI guess you need to summon Aric to get Colleen to step out of the shadows.

October 27, 2007, 11:19 AMIn response to the "Behind the Podcast"... I was always wondering if there are every bloopers when recording the podcasts (especially those that Jenny makes).... are there every retakes of the podcast? If you do a retake, do you do the whole thing, or do you splice them together? Anyway, would be funny if there were some outtakes/bloopers/错误 whatever to download. But yeah, keep this on top or Colleen won't see it! (She was notified on Facebook that this threat exists)

October 27, 2007, 11:41 AMYeah I tend to even disgust myself sometimes but annoying people is always an efficient way of getting their attention and I thought it might help in this case.

October 28, 2007, 02:01 AMDave, we're trying to ATTRACT her, not REPULSE her. Please. Rich, basically, there are extra long versions of every podcast wth outtakes in them, and then our audio editors just cut out all the bad stuff. Maybe we should save some of the outtakes...
rich
October 28, 2007, 07:00 AMCool John... yeah, we really do need some Outtakes that were complete flops or you guys said some things that weren't all that appropriate for a Chinese lesson (although I find some of the things you guys teach things I never thought I'd hear learning Chinese!!!), put in some Entertainment ("DVD extras") section on Cpod.

October 28, 2007, 07:02 AMThere has GOT to be some good Jenny Zhu quotes we've missed in there somewhere! :) (And, to keep with topic, we also need a "Saturday Show Live: The Best of Colleen"... hee hee... )

October 23, 2007, 06:44 AMJohn, this is a dilemna, if the thousands lurkers out there start takeing part in that thread, you'll shoot up the MAU list again. But if they don't we'll never know...怎么办?
