Any tips?

Jenny： 但是，他也有一个女朋友叫洋洋
John: 沈佳伟的女朋友
Jenny： 对。那，洋洋这样[41s]的affair，中文我们可以叫这种“小三” 呵

Jenny：呵 呵，就是“第三者”
John: ok， 洋洋是小三

John: ok而且璐璐快要生孩子

John: 对。那一开始那个璐璐和洋洋在外面，对吧？
Jenny: 他们在一个咖啡馆。。就是洋洋，她。。打电话给璐璐说问她 【3m50s]见面。那璐璐就不明白洋洋“找【她】究竟有什么事？”。。“究竟有什么事？”
John: 那么“究竟”是什么意思？
Jenny: 就是“到底”
John：ok, so it’s like “what exactly do you want with me?”
Jenny: 对，你不太清楚，但是你想知道她找你这个“ultimate purpose”。。目的是什么？
John: 那现在璐璐也不知道洋洋是小三？
Jenny： 对，她不明白，但是我想她可能有一点感觉吧。那洋洋找她出来谈。她说“我跟佳伟很相爱，求求你放爱一条生路“。。”放爱一条生路“
John: 放爱
Jenny: 嗯
John: 一条生路
Jenny: 对，这句话听起来很奇怪啊，呵。我们来解释一下。那“生路”呢，说的这个“生”就是有生命的。。你给我一条路让我可以活，别让我死

Jenny: 对，那这里是“放爱一条生路”。。就是给爱一条，呵，能够生存的机会

John: 那这个说法很常用吗？
Jenny: 也不能说常用但它是一个已经有的比较固定的说法；“放什么东西一条生路”
John:噢，那还可以放什么东西，呢？
Jenny:最 简的放我一跳生路。比如说，有一个人要 杀你，你可以说“放我一条生路”
John： 呵呵
Jenny:当然这个很极端这个例子

John: 那，往往是谁说“成全我”或者“成全我们”？

Jenny: 可是你有很想在一起，所以你就说“成全我们吧”

Jenny： 那在中国古代这是。。都是包办婚姻；arranged marriages

John: so that’s like be cruel enough to do something

John: 这个就是残忍的忍，是吗？
Jenny: 残忍的忍。。心就是心脏的心
John: 那这个残忍和忍心有什么区别呢？
Jenny： 残忍是形容词。那，忍心是一个动词
John: ok
Jenny: 就比如你可以就说一个人很残忍，他忍心杀小动物 。。他忍心怎么怎么样。。
John: 噢
Jenny:。。 做很残忍的事情
John:做事
Jenny: 对
John: 那最后这个“痛苦”算是一种动词，是吧？
Jenny:嗯，对。在婚姻里痛苦虽在这句话里面就是一个动词的使用
John: to suffer
Jenny: 嗯，对
John: ok
Jenny: 那，璐璐听到洋洋这样说她当然很生气，所以她就说“【你】打着爱情的幌子偷情，还这么理直气壮！“
John: ..oookay
Jenny: 前半句有一点难理解啊？
John: 对
Jenny: 大家爱情的幌子
John: 那，这个“幌子”是什么？
Jenny: “幌子”。。嗯。。其实，这像一个怎么说的骗人的东西
John: ok ， 但是 是抽象的，对吧？
Jenny: 对，抽象的，就好象是那种false pretense 的意思
John: so,ok so some kind of cover; some kind of pretense
Jenny: 对
John:..but you’re 打着,so it’s like your hiding behind some kind of pretense
Jenny: 是的。其实这里这个固定的搭配就是“打着什么的幌子”
John: ok
Jenny: 在对话里面我么就是说[8m40s] “打着爱情的幌子“
John: ok, so under the pretenses of love。。
Jenny: 嗯
John: 偷情 is to have an affair
Jenny: 对..up to 8 min 50s 所以他的意思就是其实你根本没有 爱情 你只是再说

You didn't highlight this, but your 出 (chu1) sounds more like qu to me. I can hear the u-umlaut sound. I'm assuming its 去活, but that doesn't make any more sense to me than your version.

hehe, that's exactly what I thought I heard the first time too, but also concluded it didn't make sense. I think it might be 跟他。。in fact I meant to put 跟 in there and having another listen now maybe I can just pick up the 他

July 13, 2010, 03:18 AMFinally got it to work. Sorry had more trouble with those links and getting the copying and pasting to work than a barrel full of monkeys,hehe. Only the last link works. After all the trouble I've just had [over an hour] I'm not game to remove them and try republishing.

..I don't know what's up with google docs these days....any ideas? If I can't get it to behave better I'll have to try somewhere else to work on transcipts[any ideas of alternatives?]...if I do anymore that is [ I'm committed to doing a Media one if we do get a lesson on Karate Kid,hehe]. Does google docs now work better with google chrome or something ...or are they trying to stop copying and pasting and force users to go there?

sorry ,this link doesn't work [this site doesn't seem to like the long url but it also didn't work with a tiny url]...but anyway ,the I've commented at the top of this page on the link that does work. Sorry about the mess folks, I seem to be having a lot of tech problems.

thanks zhen, I think that's the case with some of the linking [except the tinyurl link which go_manly has just kindly pointed out is due to probably a dodgy tinyurl site]. But my major headaches have been to do with using google docs. Perhaps the site here also didn't like me pasting and it seemed to munt the whole post then and I'd have to republish to drafts and then bin it and start again. But as I say,even before trying to post here, some of the probs were from google docs.
