I love the fact that the Little Miss Spoilt in this dialogue complains that her bloke wouldn't warm her IV drip, as if that's the kinda everyday occurance on which normal relationships are founded. There can't be too many countries in the world where the first thing that comes to mind when discussing romantic devotion is one's attitude towards intravenous medical procedures? Then again, there aren't that many countries where a common cold, or a minor splutter, is treated with an over-medicated, over-priced IV drip either, so I guess it follows!:)

I think  is one of the greatest Chinese characters, like, ever! The fact it is tone 4 is crucial. It channels the essential spirit of a two-year-old temper tantrum. To hear it is to picture a furrowed brow, pouty-mouth, folded-arms and spoilt expression of a disappointed human being. Never fails to raise a smile.

Really boring question, but why is it: 震动声 and not 振动声?

振 vs. 震. Both mean shake/vibrate, right, but the first is the 震 in 地震 and usually refers to great shocks/quakes? 振 looks more likely, as it just means to shake/to vibrate. Can't figure out the logic here. Is there any?

The start of CPod's brave new postmodern world. In the legendary words of Borat: It's nice, I like.

I would have liked it even more if John's wife had randomly called him to ask him what time dinner was that evening (as a Shanghai husband, John is surely the assumed cook), or there had been the incessant noise of cleaning in the background and you had ended with the line:

"Oi, Ayi, we're trying to have a meeting in here. Do you mind doing the vacuuming a bit later!"

That was the problem with the Brits' swimming performance this past Olympics - we were always in bloody lane 7!:) (though it should be noted that the hand-wringing over our swimming failure was rather lost amid the chest-beating triumphalism over 'Team GB's' other successes).

Crazy ex-girlfriend, or ar*ehole boyfriend? Call me judgmental but to be full-on shacked up with a new girlfriend when the old girlfriend hasn't even collected her stuff yet strikes me as improperly hasty. Who's this Chen Jianbin character, anyhow? A quick image search suggests its this bloke. I'm a single-man Human Flesh Search Engine, me. So, who wants to send him a turd in the post to protest his ar*eholery? (joking...I'm joking. This man is a respectable actor. No turds in post please. The REAL Chen Jianbin is INNOCENT! (but the fictional one is a total di*kbag))

The Beatles' 'Come Together' in the last Upper Int. dialogue, MC Hammer's 'Can't Touch This' in this - jees, CPod royalty payments must be going through the roof. Or doesn't that apply when you get a Sanlitun 山寨 band to record the song first?
