August 23, 2015 at 2:43 PMSorry to hear that. Must be very annoying. When I go back home from Xmas I have to deal with my parents 5MB/s speed. The actual speed is more like 1Mb/s after the Wifi has travelled through 4 meter of cob walls. What's the price of the upgrade?

August 23, 2015 at 2:04 PMHi guys. I've had a go at re-editing the video.
I have tired to fix some of the problems you guys raised:
- Font colours should be easier to read now (looks nice and crisp at 1080p on fullscreen for me).
- The chinese characters are spaced out a bit more to help Newbies
- I have cropped the video so Fiona is not clipped out of the frame or covered by the titles - she needs to grow taller ;)
- I experimented with some ken burns effects to zoom in on Fiona speaking
- I spent a good amount of time making that 3 second intro shot of the tea. A good use of my Sunday evening.
- @Attenuendo, if you want to hide the player bar to see the paused pinyin, just move your mouse off screen. It will vanish instantly.
Cheers Poddies.

August 23, 2015 at 1:18 PMWe try and do the best we can with our servers, but i'm afraid we can't really help how the internet is affected in China. However, I have made sure there is always a download button under the new videos for users on a slow connection. Alternatively you can click second button on the video embed to get a lower quality stream. Hope that helps in some way.

August 20, 2015 at 12:01 PMHi there Veronique.
You are right. There are 3 videos.
The first two are the full lesson and the 3rd one is just the weather report
I added two versions of the full show because on smaller screens, the one with the added slideshow doesn't always work.
If if you're browsing from your computer of iPad I recommend watching the one with the slideshow because as we talk about the lesson, the slideshow will automatically show you the key words and sentences.
To sumarize, the slideshow sync is experimental and doesn't always work on smaller screens so I provided an alternative solution.

August 19, 2015 at 1:30 PMToday's video has an experimental synchronised presentation attached to the video. This means that as we talk through the video, the slides will automatically display what part of the lesson we are chatting about. Hope it works and helps with your studies :)

Today's lesson was experimental to see how a Newbie podcast lesson would translate on video. We hope that the added visual elements such as seeing text on screen and seeing the speakers move their mouths helps improve the memory of that word/phrase. Apologies that the video dialogue is not great. We will improve this next time. Let us know if you like this style or any other thoughts you have.
