At the moment for the video sentences, we just use simplified. This is mainly for aesthetics reasons because often a long sentence will only have one character that's different, but will make the video very messy since we also have to include pinyin. However we have all the notes in both character sets, so it's easy to look at the notes at the same time. For single vocabulary words I try to include both.

You do realize that our main service offering is audio podcasts? We have only recently begun making video but ChinesePod is mainly a collection of audio shows.

The videos are currently not viewable within the RSS feed if you are listening via iTunes/Apple Podcast app but I am looking into a way of fixing that. If you're using the ChinesePod apps, here are some instructions.  Alternatively, the website is mobile friendly, so you can navigate to the website on any mobile device.

Video lessons also have a download button under the player, although this is mainly for people on slower connections.

Now that we are making more and more video "podcasts" we're looking to integrate the video player into our new apps.

We tried to pick 3 words that had similar meanings, but rather different usages.

开心 kāixīn (HSK5) and 高兴 gāoxìng (HSK1) have almost identical usages but I would say that based on their HSK listing, 高兴 is more commonly spoken. Saying that, if you have any friends, just ask them and see which ones they most commonly say since each person will have their own idiolect. Either way, neither one is wrong if you are talking about a short term moment of happiness, having a great time etc etc.

Here are some other references you can check.

Thanks for the suggestion, although you might want to narrow down some of these options because it looks to be copy pasted from a dictionary ☺ Are there any in particular that you often hear and don't know what the difference is?

Glad you found them cowenparkseattle. The side widgets are now collapsed in the side bar in an effort to clean up the lesson page and focus on the lesson content. All the same features are retained, but can now easily be called out with a click on the header.
