You guys do a great job!  Loved it.  Can you also use faguang as an adjective?  For example: 你的发光的皮肤

Bloody oath is this debate ridgy didge, it is all starting to get a little iffy if you ask me.  And the tone becoming a little aggro.  I know I am a relatively new blow in, but thought I'd add my 2 cents worth and ask that we all give this away.  We've got buckleys in resolving this as we are all thinking about it from different perspectives.  I hope it is sorted before I kick the bucket.  Ok enough said, I'm about to put a banger on the barbie for brekky, then get some bathers on and take a dip.  All welcome to come here and join me - my shout!  Sorry this is meant as tongue in cheek to stir the possum!

This is written to demonstrate Australian (slang) English.  If I was studying English I would WANT to learn standard English as a first,  not what I have written above, as most people outside Australia would not have a clue what I just said.    Oh and by the way, all words are spelt correctly,  "iffy" is not a typo.

No-one is arguing it cannot be included, just that the mainland words should definitely be included as part of the lesson.  My first language is English and being an Australian, Australian English has many words not known to Americans or British - I get it, each place has it's own variations.  We just want both sides, mainland and Taiwanese variations.

As far as suggesting we are "sooks", or we should learn another language is really not addressing the issue.   We are all here to learn.

I must admit - I tend to agree with the other's on this site.  I think it is great the Taiwan Mandarin is taught, but it should be secondary to what is recognised in mainland China.  I find I am now having the lessons checked by my mainland friends to make sure it is standard and known in mainland China.  Another expression that is not know in mainland China and came up in another lesson was 苦水桶 ku shui tong - cry on someone's shoulder.  This is not known by any of my mainland friends.  I think the material offered and the presentation is great.  I love the lessons, but I think you need to listen to us on this call.  Kathie

My personal opinion is you need to feel good about what you are doing, failure of any kind lowers our self esteem.  You need to set your goals so that you are challenged but not out of your depth.  You need to experience success and little "failures".  It's not just you who feels this way - we all do and we all get frustrated in the "learning process".  Don't worry, keep plodding along and eventually it will all come together.
