还没开车了一辆觉得舒服的车。I still have not driven what I think is a comfortable car.
还没吃了一个觉得好吃的饭。Still have not eaten what I think is a delicious meal.
还没听过一个觉得满意的主意。Still not heard what I think is a convincing suggestion.

June 12, 2011 at 9:30 AMMy friends son passed the gaokao last year ,but as I understand it his marks weren't that good, so he couldn't take the course he really wanted to do (which was engineering) and I think has to do something in textile manufacture.Is this comman for Chinese students. They get told once they get to University what course they can choose?

当我小孩儿的时候我进场帮助我的父母。他们有条鱼店和星期六晚上十一点钟爸爸我起床了帮助他们切土豆还是一条鱼。但是这种事儿就是家人活。我总是去学校了。我的爸爸自己开始工作什么时候他十二岁了。我的父母爱了我。我很开心了。

February 28, 2011 at 7:36 PMI know that when Chinese people come to England they are able to hire a car if they have a Chinese driving licence. Does the same apply to foreigners in China? I have a driving licence ,so will I be able to rent a car in China?

Talking about idiosyncratic mannerisms made me think about an interesting comment I heard somebody make yesterday. It was that you can always tell whether a person has lived in Asia and learned the language there because Asian people always nod their head up and down all the time they are speaking, whereas European’s when they are speaking tend to shake their heads from side to side.

November 20, 2011 at 3:59 PMWhat I find interesting about these Red Songs is that as JC says they sound very like songs that we are used to hearing because they are harmonised in a very European style .When I listen to traditional Chinese Opera or traditional Chinese style Orchestras they kind of all play the tune.( A bit like listening to the Chieftains and Irish folk music in style, but with Chinese folk rhythms and melodies.) So I think this assimilation of European styled scoring must have started a lot earlier than we think. Maybe at the turn of the century? Also perhaps this European style only happened in Shanghai and Beijing and was not wide spread across the country, but was adopted by the Governments at the time and then became the norm.
