一些人来到北京后便会不由自主地咳嗽，离开后咳嗽又自然消失，这被称为“北京咳”。有消息称，“北京咳”这个略带玩笑意味的叫法，近日竟被外国人白纸黑字地印入了旅游指南。(1月15日《生命时报》)
这两天“十面霾伏”的雾霾天气，又给了网友一个展示造词才华的机会。有人称，“世界上最远的距离，不是生与死的距离，而是我在北京街头牵着你的 手，却看不见你”。受“北京咳”的启示，这句话其实还可以改为：“世界上最远的距离，不是生与死的距离，而是我听到你的咳嗽声，却看不见你”。
同一种声音，角度不同，感受不同。辛弃疾有一句词：“稻花香里说丰年，听取蛙声一片”。 “北京咳”对一些人来说，可能同样听出了“丰年”。不是吗？“北京咳”难道不是发展的产物，背后难道没有GDP以及不断增长的财政吗？只是这种以牺牲环境 为代价的“丰年”，显得有些沉重，而且也不可以持续罢了。
一座有竞争力的城市，应该是一座“诗意栖居”的城市。1月14日晚央视节目“谁的霾”称，据北大报告估算，2012年北京、上海、广州、西安因 为PM2.5引发过早死的人数，将达8500多人。一位央视记者自述，其驻京时因空气污染一度面部肿胀，驻英后病情大幅缓解。当“北京咳”切切实实影响到 生命健康时，幸福的含金量会急剧下降。故宫再美，中关村再有发展机会，恐怕也难以吸引到人。可以预计，如果一座城市空气质量持续得不到改善，甚至进一步恶 化时，这座城市的吸引力将急剧下降。不仅游客会望而却步，高学历人才也会避而远之。
去年8月11日，陈光标宣布将上北上广设立流动专卖店售卖新鲜空气，每瓶售价4元至5元。当时，是有很多人质疑的。人们不是不相信，而是不敢相 信，当有一天，新鲜空气真的需要买的时候，那岂不是意味着环境“到了最危险的时候”？当然，我们也可以不花钱“买空气”，而是直奔那些空气质量好的地方而 去。人们今后“逃离北上广”，或许不再是因为房价，不是因为竞争，而只是因为生存环境太差。哭笑不得的背后，不能不担忧城市的光明未来。
专家称，治理PM 2.5超标需要“顶层设计”。从过去的经历看，就怕有了“顶层设计”也难于实施到位。不排除会有一些城市，为了保证GDP，为了政绩好看一些，不愿、不敢 动真碰硬治理空气污染；甚至还有一些城市，羡慕咳声里的“丰年”。顶层设计重要，环境考核同样重要。从这个意义上来说，“北京咳”印入外国旅游指南是一种 警示，既是对发展方式的警示，也是对考核方式的警示。

There may be other reasons why it is easy to have virus trouble in China and even shelling out good money for your 防毒软件 probably couldn't help you there.

February 1, 2013 at 1:03 AMAlthough I have no idea what a 'chazzwazzer' might be, or what 'knifey-spooney' might mean, I am certainly glad of the chance to learn these wonderful-sounding, 'through the looking-glass' type expressions. Actually I think they are much too good to waste. I think you should add them to your list of future 'guise' handles Bob, I think both might rather suit you!
