BST is more of a show about aspects of Chinese culture and not as much about teaching the language. You should listen to the actual lessons - like intermediate or upper intermediate to get more spoken Chinese

Also, I think sometimes in English- we would say something like "I'm so excited to go traveling tomorrow"- wouldn't that be translated as 我很期待明天去旅游?

Just found this 请问 as I had been away the past month traveling in SE Asia. Thanks a lot for answering my question 把那些词 你们解释得很清楚, 谢谢

Oh, for 激动, I know it has been translated in a chinesepod lesson (national day- intermediate level http://chinesepod.com/lessons/national-day#sthash.xhs8X8MM.dpbs) as "moved" similar to 感动。is it often translated that way? thanks!

maybe continue the story line of this journalist trying to find out what happened in the mines could be a way to have "more like it"

fair enough, I hadn't seen all those reviews but I knew it had caused some controversy. I read through one of those academic reviews but hadn't read "Sex at Dusk."

There may be some problems with the book and its facts, but I still think it raises some important ideas abt how science and scientific notions about sexuality and evolution can be shaped by our own present biases. This is especially true when it comes to marriage and monogamy and its "biological necessity."

well it really depends on how you define marriage as there are varying definitions across different societies though the rise of globalization and the spread of western norms through out the world as a result has altered that. I would say we are hard wired to have sex but the rest is shaped by culture and society.

Honestly, this book "sex at dawn" will really change and challenge your perspective on this issue. I strongly urge you to read it.
