October 10, 2012 at 12:43 PMThanks for the info. I didn't know. So do many southern Europeans. I was just trying to be funny with the vocabulary I "knew" :)

October 10, 2012 at 10:26 AMThank you! I very much care about being polite in such cases. To me, only a very few things are as annoying as a person I try to help, but he mistrusts me and doesn't even thank me.

October 8, 2012 at 2:41 PMIf I worry about scaring of people with such an affirmative offer of help, may I say:
让我帮你! (ràng wǒ bāng nǐ),
or does that come off as overly polite and unnatural?

October 8, 2012 at 6:09 AMIn Germany (and possibly Italy) I have repeatedly seen horse meat salami. There are even companies that specialize in making such products from horse meat only.

October 11, 2012 at 2:04 PMI have two questions: How do 妻子 (qīzi) and 太太(tàitai) differ? When using 太太, do I use the husbands name? In other words, if the wife of Mr. Xu has the family name Wang (I think Chinese women usually keep their names), is she 王太太(Wángtàitai)?
