October 27, 2010 at 2:42 AMWhen I was in Chengdu, on the bus, the Chinese lady voice would say the usual speech in Chinese, something like: 下一站是...下车的旅客，请注意安全，请做好准备在后门下车. But in English there was none of that... only something like Do not carry any explosive devices on the bus...?!? Like who are we? Who does that? None of that in Chinese...
Anyone here in Chengdu to let me know if the msg has changed... it was actually said in this terrible ChineseBritish accent... almost impossible to understand.

October 26, 2010 at 12:22 AMWow I am French and when I found out this sound also existed in Chinese I was soooo happy! So I picked Lǚ 吕 as a Chinese last name to celebrate it!!!

October 24, 2010 at 3:43 AMYes, I know many Taiwanese here in Canada, and also Mandarin from Malaysia and some Fujianese, and I noticed that those who are older or from smaller towns of Taiwan, mix up all the F/H. It took me a while to figure some words out... 保护 bǎohù as bǎofù... 婚姻 hūnyīn as fēnyīn...

I joined in January after learning Chinese on my own for 7 years and I have listened to old podcast from the Ken time... and I have to say that I like the current John & Jenny podcast the most. You guys are great and always explaine everything so well: the grammar, cultural, you give other examples.... the current podcast are the best you have produced so far.... Keep it up guys... and make sure to keep John!!!! Don't let it slip away... I also love Connie & Catherine on QW as well as Jen who joined a few times now and publishes posts. To me you guys are all my favorites right now... Thanks to you all my Chinese has been improving a lot these past few months although I have a very busy schedule. THANKS!!!

You have learned English like no Chinese do... your language skills are amazing and you really know how to explain things to us Laowais. To able to pop jokes like that proves just how incredible your English is!
