hi sparechange, 看不出 (kànbuchū) is the same... the 来 (lai) can be omitted. We can do more QWs on other complement structures in the future!

tusconmicheal, 有活力 (yǒu huólì) means the place is full of energy 热闹 (rènào) means a lot of people, full of action So the feeling is a little different. 在外地 (zài wàidì) just means someone is away from their home, moved away. It can be used in many situations. 出门在外 (chūmén zàiwài) is more of an expression, it is less frequently used, and has a slight 'sad' feeling to it.

hi tusconmicheal, “估计” (gūjì) means 'to estimate; to deduce.' You have some basis for making an assumption, i.e. 我估计他今天不会来了。(Wǒ gūjì tā jīntiān bù huì lái le.) I reckon that he won't come today. “猜” (cāi) is 'to guess'. You may or may not have a basis for your guess, but you're guessing all the same. It is less certain than “估计” (gūjì), i.e.: 猜谜语 (cāi míyǔ) to guess a riddle 你猜是谁来了?(Nǐ cāi shì shuí lái le?) Guess who it was that came?

hi heruilin, 綠化 (lǜhuà) by definition means "to make a place green; afforest", thus the translation says in English "to add greenery".

hi MikeinEwshot, In that case you could just use 我明白了 (Wǒ míngbai le), because 明白 (míngbai) indicates that something is already understood, so doesn't really need the 出来 (chūlai). Great phrases everyone!

hi jackcolish, The best way is to find yourself an agent, I think. I think if you look online you can find a model/TV agency in Shanghai and write them and let them know when you will be here. They can try to line things up for you! Make sure to send us a pic of you in a pink dress ;).

hi MikeinEwshot, That use of 估计不出来 (gūjì bù chūlai) is a resultative complement verb structure. (the 来 (lai) can be omitted as it was in our expansion sentence) What that means in this case is that the person is unable to come up with an estimate of something. Coincidentally enough, the episode of Qing Wen that is coming out this afternoon is dealing with this very structure! So check that out to help too--it will be published in an hour or two!

trevlu and amphivera, 第一印象 Dì-yī yìnxiàng 初步印象 Chūbù yìnxiàng both mean 'first impression'. 第一印象 Dì-yī yìnxiàng is more commonly heard. You could also ask this way: 北京给你的第一印象怎么样? Běijīng gěi nǐ de dì-yī yìnxiàng zěnmeyàng?
