January 3, 2008 at 2:02 AMandrewm, You can use 加 (jiā) if, for example, there is already some in it, and you want to add more. 放 (fàng) is the more common word to use for the context of this dialogue.

January 3, 2008 at 1:59 AMkimgibbier and auntysue, If you're calling the restaurant, you would be saying: 我要叫外卖。(Wǒ yào jiào wài mài.) But if you go to the restaurant, and want to take away, you say: 带走 (dàizǒu) or 打包 (dǎbāo) 打包 (dǎbāo) can also be used when you are done eating but want a 'doggie bag.'
