bingge, Connie looked up some information that said the average height for males in China is 170cm, and for females 160cm. But I think it also depends on which region of China you are speaking of. Northern people tend to be taller, is my impression.

hi jandoug, First tone is high and steady. It can have different pitch, due to different voices and inflection, but the tone is still flat and higher than the others.

hi rsmith91, 够了 (gòu le) 够 (gòu) means enough. When you add the 了(le), it indicates a change in status. As in, 'now I have enough.'

hi rsmith91 and brooke, aert is correct, 和 (hé) can mean 'and', it can also mean 'with'. So the sentence could also read: 最重要的是跟家人在一起。 (Zuì zhòngyào de shì gēn jiārén zài yīqǐ.) And it would mean the same thing.

goulniky, I pay 10 RMB per hour for my ayi in Shanghai, who comes 2 times per week for 2 hours. But my apartment is pretty small, so I think it's an easy 2 hours for her.
