November 13, 2007 at 2:45 AMhi buzz, Yes it's all 豆浆 (dòujiāng), you just have to specify whether you want cold or hot, sugar or no sugar... you can usually ask for less sugar as well if you don't like it that sweet: 冰豆浆 (Bīng dòujiāng) Cold soymilk 热豆浆 (Rè dòujiāng) Hot soymilk 甜豆浆 (Tián dòujiāng) Sweet soymilk 咸豆浆 (Xián dòujiāng) Savory soymilk 少放一点糖 (Shǎo fàng yīdiǎn táng) Less sugar

November 12, 2007 at 3:01 AMHi Rash, Both of those sentences are fine, the difference can be seen in the English translation: 我没吃过这个东西 (Wǒ méi chī guo zhège dōngxi) I have never eaten this. 我以前没吃过这个东西。(Wǒ yǐqián méi chī guo zhège dōngxi.) I have never eaten this before. The 以前 (yǐqián) just adds more emphasis.

November 12, 2007 at 1:47 AMsebire, In Chinese, if you say 女朋友 (nǚpéngyou) it definitely has romantic connotations. Generally, a girl's friend of the same sex would just be referred to as 朋友 (péngyou). If you wanted to specify though, you could say 女性朋友 (nǚxìng péngyou).

November 13, 2007 at 2:51 AMhi gouliky, Because the sound that arises that is represented by the character 唔 is pretty much not a pinyin sound, we use 'ng'. It's not really a word, so the 'ng' is just a rough phonetic for how it sounds.
