September 16, 2007 at 12:51 AMhi tianfeng, yes, I also love the friendships you get to make with the market people. i prefer that approach as well. I mean, in the end, when you realize that that last 10RMB you were fighting to the death over is actually only about $1.25 US... haha you have to laugh!

September 15, 2007 at 1:01 AMHa ha, Art, that is really funny! I read that a man in China paid US$1.1 million for the number 135 8585 8585. I'm wondering what is auspicious about this number... what is the significance of the 8 along with the 5? It must be good if it cost that much! Maybe I should just phone him and ask, haha!

September 17, 2007 at 12:06 AMhi Taipan, Sorry, took so long--just getting back to your earlier question (needed to ask my Chinese consultants, hehe), the one about addresses/numbers, i.e. "1421 fuxin road. do you look at each number individually to see if tis unlucky or lucky? or do you add them up and see? 1+4+2+1= 8 therefore great address?" Nope, mathematics doesn't apply here. You need the full on 8's and 6's... Oh, and the 135-85858585 number, yes, Kyle, my Chinese friend concurs, it is because it sounds like "wo fa wo fa....", or 'i get rich' loosely translated.
