Because a lot of people tend to break out during puberty (which is 青春期 (qīngchūnqī) in Chinese), i think it follows that they are called 青春痘 (qīngchūndòu)! hehe Oh, the topics we get to cover here! ;) As for your example sentences, here are a couple tweaks. Great job!: 我认为中文博客的女孩很_____! (Wǒ rènwéi Zhōngwén bōkè de nǚhái hěn_____!) Connie wants me to tell you that in Chinese, they don't use "辣" (là) to describe a person as often as we do in English. You can call someone a 辣妹 (làmèi) "sexy, hot girl". But if you want some other descriptive adjectives, you could use: 好 (hǎo) good 漂亮 (piàoliang) beautiful 优秀 (yōuxiù) outstanding 出色 (chūsè) remarkable 棒 (bàng) great er... not that we're saying we're all of those, haha! ;) 而且我觉得请问每个星期都应该邀请朱老师来做嘉宾。 (Érqiě wǒ juéde qǐngwèn měi ge xīngqī dōu yīnggāi yāoqǐng Zhū lǎoshī lái zuò jiābīn.) 虽然Amber以为她早先的图片不漂亮，但是我觉得她想错了. (Suīrán Amber yǐwéi tā zǎoxiān de túpiàn bù piàoliang, dànshì wǒ juéde tā xiǎngcuò le.) Wow, everyone is so complimentary today, you're making us all smile! :)

July 27, 2007 at 6:29 AMhi davelandis, 笔记本 (bǐjìběn) and 本子 (běnzi) both mean notebook, not a big difference. One thing to note of interest, is that a notebook computer is often referred to as a 笔记本(电脑) bǐjìběn (diànnǎo).

(Kěyǐ quán'é tuìpiào ma? /Yào shōu duōshao tuìpiào fèi?)

July 27, 2007 at 1:20 AMhi Chris, Yes, adding the 儿 (er) sound to the ends of certain words is definitely a characteristic of Chinese spoken in the northern parts of China. So, technically, you can add it, or not. But if you are in northern China, it would be best to use it. iqichu, I re-checked the character used for 遍 (biàn) in the PDF and the expansion sentences, and it is the same. Perhaps it looks a little different because it's a different font. :)

July 27, 2007 at 1:02 AMsorry, should add that 悉心 (xīxīn) is not often used in spoken Chinese. Its meaning is "with utmost care." It is more of the type of word you would find in literary works or more formal written Chinese. Hope that clears it up a bit! :)

July 27, 2007 at 9:11 AMHi LostinAsia, 媒婆 (méipó) is a (female) matchmaker With regard to the sentence you mention from the dialogue: 我有自己的头脑，干吗什么火就做什么？ (Wǒ yǒu zìjǐ de tóunǎo, gànmá shénme huǒ jiù zuò shénme?) Yes, you could substitute 想法 (xiǎngfa) for 头脑 (tóunǎo). And the sentence pattern can also be used, as you mentioned, substituting other words, i.e.: 干吗别人说什么好吃我就要吃什么? (Gànmá biéren shuō shénme hǎochī wǒ jiùyào chī shénme?)
