hi kalougiropaul,

算 (suàn) as used in the sentence you mention is quite rude.  But there are a lot of other usages, that have different meanings depending on the context.  Here are a few examples:

你算一下这里有多少人
Nǐ suàn yīxià zhèlǐ yǒu duōshao rén.
(to calculate)

Suànle, biéshuō le.
(forget it)

Wǎnshang qù hē jiǔ suàn wǒ yī ge.
(count me in)

Tā kěyǐ suàn yī ge hǎo bàba.
(to be considered as)

hi Dag,

Good observation.  Here is a sort of literal translation of that sentence:

谢谢你们给我们这个很好的课。
Xièxie nǐmen gěi wǒmen zhège hěn hǎo de kè.
Thank you for giving us this very good lesson.

In Chinese, there aren't as many prepositions as English, so often, as in this case,给 (gěi) encompasses the 'for' and 'to give'.

hi dammoon2008,

不要 (bùyào) can also mean 'don't want', yes.

Hi anacalagon, johns, etc.

等一下 (děng yīxià)

等等 (děngdeng)

等一等 (děngyīděng)

all mean 'wait a moment'.

In some contexts, 等等 (děngdeng) can mean 'etc.' or 'and so on'.  But it will be clear from the context which usage it is.

hi horsiebaby,

什么时候 (shénme shíhou) should be written with neutral tone.  That was an error in the PDF, which has been fixed now!  Sorry about that!

hi bubobubo,

You would say:

hi kimiik,

(Bēn sǐ de lǎorén), while correct, is very impolite, and not advisable to say!

Panini would most likely be described as:  意大利三明治(Yìdàlì sānmíngzhì)

hi raychenon,

方便面 (fāngbiànmiàn) and 泡面 (pàomiàn) are the same thing.
