May 7, 2008 at 1:35 AMhi lydia1981, You're right, technically if a person is over 10 years old or so, you would use: 你多大了？ Nǐ duōdà le? 几 (jǐ) is used for numbers less than 10 generally. But in some areas of China, both methods of asking are used for all ages.

May 5, 2008 at 9:47 AMhi hitokiri, 谁 can be pronounced as (shuí) or (shéi). It's personal preference. Though I hear (shéi) way more. Baseball caps are often referred to as 帽子 (màozi), however if you wanted to be more specific, you could also say 棒球帽 (bàngqiú mào). and... "I am a cat", you are correct, is: 我是一隻貓 (Wǒ shì yī zhī māo)

May 5, 2008 at 3:08 AMhi bazza, The Chinese refer to the mobile repairman as "修东西的" (xiū dōngxi de) Here's how they would use it: 那个修东西的来了叫我一声。 Nàge xiū dōngxi de lái le jiào wǒ yī shēng. 那个修东西的今天来吗？ Nàge xiū dōngxi de jīntiān lái ma？

May 5, 2008 at 3:05 AMhi rich, In the sentence you mention the subject has been omitted. What it is really saying is: (每个地方)都是这个价。 (Měi ge dìfang) dōu shì zhège jià. It's that price everywhere. Or, literally "Every place all is this price."

May 5, 2008 at 2:49 AMhi sarahjs, In "我的名字不是..." (Wǒ de míngzi shì...) you always need the 是 (shì). The possessive 的 (de) can be omitted when speaking about family members, or intimate friends. Also if speaking of one's home: 我妈妈 (Wǒ māma) My mom 我家 (Wǒ jiā) My house 我男朋友 (Wǒ nánpéngyou) My boyfriend

I saw the doctor at the hospital. 我在路上碰到了朋友。 Wǒ zài lùshang pèngdào le péngyou. I ran into a friend on the street. And you're right, this sentence is the correct one: 我跟辅导（老师）学过汉语。 Wǒ gēn fǔdǎo (lǎoshī) xué guò Hànyǔ.
