November 5, 2007 at 5:18 AMLast year, I came across 劳驾 in a Chinese lesson on exchanging money at http://www.china.org.cn/e-learning/1.htm (I had not heard of Chinesepod at that time). Is 劳驾 used frequently in China for excuse me? Speaking of burping, many years ago, a small group of computer programmers I worked with recited this rhyme in front of some managers when they burped every now and then: "Excuse me please for being rude. It wasn't me, it was my food. It can't help to stay below. So, it came up to say hello." Amber or Connie, can you translate this rhyme to Chinese? :) Art

November 5, 2007 at 2:31 AMThe question “生意怎么样?" takes an even greater meaning at the end of the year when everyone's having fish (年年有余） to celebrate the coming New Year。 The Chinese-equivalent of the proverb "The early bird catches the worm" should be "The early worm gets killed." I am guessing that anyone who stood out in ancient history eventually got killed by the emperor. Those who stood out got the “午时三刻“ treatment. Here's a word-play for you: "好酒不见！“ I saw a Chinese commercial for some liquor that had a few people of say "好酒不见！" before the singer Jacky Chan (I think it was him) appeared to hawk the liquor.
