As for deep-dish pizza, my favorite is Lou Malnati's. Malnati's actually ships deep-dish pizza packed in dry ice around the US. Check out pictures of a deep-dish pizza at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago-style_pizza.

Below are four pictures I took in Chicago's Chinatown four years ago. The first one shows the Chinese-looking building which is a Chicago historical landmark. The building is called 培德中心 (Pui Tak Center). It's a community center established by the Chinese Christian Union Church in Chinatown. The community center offers English As A Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship classes to Chinese immigrants. I volunteered as an ESL tutor on Saturdays for a few years when I lived in the Chicago area. The second and third pictures show the Chinatown "L" Train Station and an "L" train. The last picture is inside one of at least three bakeries in Chicago's Chinatown.

Jenny forgot to mention the Chinese name of the Dragon Boat Festival: 端午节. Personally, I like 端午节‘s 粽子 over 中秋节's moon cake. :D

Fellow cpoddies, we all heard Amber, preparing Qingwen can zap her energy. So here's a haiku each of us can recite to Amber to butter her up: Amber 辛苦了 辛辛苦苦录请问 我辛苦你了 :D

Excellent show and the wearing the same clothes for a few days makes sense to me now. Last year, colleagues from China came over to the States for a month and I noticed that they wore the same clothes a few days in succession. I prefer haikus to limericks. Here is my haiku called "One of my favorite Podcasts": Beauty in Shanghai Podcasting Chinese Culture It is Dear Amber!

I only remember five 成语s from my teenage years: 1. 班门弄斧 (the first one I learned in a Chinese class). 2. 塞翁失马 3. 螳螂捕蝉、黄雀在后 4.百发百中 5. 一饭千金 There were probably another 8-12 成语 that my Chinese teachers taught. But I had forgotten them by the time I left high school (eons ago). This is a good lesson.

Isn't giving knives as a gift a no-no as well? So instead of the cleaning the house at night, one hires an ayi to do so, isn't that the same as giving away one's wealth? ;-)

In the Philippines, people observe All Soul's Day on Nov. 1 and I remember observing tomb-sweeping on that day when I was a kid. Since I am a 华裔, I also observed 清明 with my Dad. So two tomb-sweeping days per year for me many years ago.
