March 30, 2013 at 5:16 PMyeah, i agree. This was a super basic qingwen, that maybe should be labeled as Newbie, rather than Elementary, but that's not important.
That being said, not every lesson can be great. I think the better Qingwens are the ones that start with a specific question that a user asked

In the example 妈妈经历过的事比你吃过的盐还多， why isn't it 经验过的事？I say that because it the "accumulated experiences" word "经验" seems to make more sense based on the explanations in this lesson

March 29, 2013 at 4:09 PMChinese people usually live in neighborhood complexes/communities called 社区(shèqū) or 小区(xiǎoqū). If we want to ask a friend what building number they live in, do we say 几号楼(jǐhàolóu) ? Is there any other way to say it?

Why is Shanghai's abbreviation 沪 ?
I can understand 湖北 and 湖南 having different characters because these two provinces share the character 湖, and they can't be called 北or 南 because there are many other provinces with those characters, such as 河北，河南 and some others. With Shanghai, though, I can't think of a reason why it can't be 上 . It makes sense that it's not 海 because there is 海南 and 青海, but I don't know why it can't be 上 . Can someone explain this? Chinesepod is based in Shanghai, so we've got to understand this one
