June 2, 2010 at 5:49 AMI know a Japanese girl whose first name is “文香” (Fumika/Ayaka), which sounds very cute in Japanese, but, unfortunately, the Chinese reading of her name, "wen2 xiang1", is completely the same as that of “蚊香” (mosquito coil). She looked a little disappointed when I told her about this, hehe.

June 2, 2010 at 11:59 AMI hear that Chinese people tried to kill flying sparrows with the loud sound of drumbeats at that time, which really sounds "earth-friendly". A swarm of people, beating drums, run after flying sparrows .... I believe it must have been spectacular. Judging from a stamp issued in 50's, it seems that children employed a more scientific method for killing sparrows.
